CHAIN STITCH
RUGS
“Gabhas” as
they are locally known are hand crafted in Kashmir
. These superb rugs have been in continuous
production since the days of the Mogul dynasties.
Overall they closely resemble the finest hand tied
Persian rugs but are far less expensive. The very
sharp detail of the beautiful designs is
accomplished by a hook needle applying fine
worstered two-ply wool over a durable heavy
cotton/canvas backing the same color as the rug's
background. Breathtaking designs range from
traditional Persian to contemporary floral
patterns in a wide range of colours.
